Edwin
embarked on a solo career in 1997, following his time spent
with Canadian band I Mother Earth. It was after two albums and
countless sold-out tours that Edwin decided to move on. Edwin's
split from I Mother Earth left fans and media buzzing.
Edwin's solo debut 'Another Spin Around The Sun' is now approaching
double Platinum Certification in Canada. The album spawned the
hit singles "Trippin," "Hang Ten," "And
You," "Alive," and "Rush." One of the
major highlights from 'Another Spin Around The Sun, was the
colossal success of the hit single "Alive." This track
entrenched Edwin at Top 40 radio and the video was a tremendous
success.
Edwin is renowned not only for his hit songs, but also for his
creative videos. The video for "Hang Ten" received
a 1999 MuchMusic Video Award (MMVA) in the category of "Best
Rock Video." Edwin won "People's Choice: Favourite
Canadian Artist" at the 2000 MuchMusic Video Awards (MMVA)
and "Best Video" at the 2001 Juno Awards for the "Alive"
video.
With the release of 'Edwin & The Pressure' Edwin has created
a rock record that is full of complex elements while still dazzling
in its simplicity. It hits the listener with melodies that are
undeniable and songs drenched in good vibes. "These are
songs you can jump along to and most importantly sing along
to. That's the biggest challenge. If you can't sing along, it
isn't a good song," concludes Edwin.
